The trip report

Written by Bobcat

Great day for a hike on Mt. Adams- partly cloudy and cool with light winds.  We started from Appalachia at 8AM, headed up Airline & summitted at 1130PM.  Intermittent views of hot hiker guys & Mt. Washington through the fog.  The alpine garden is blooming!

After lunch at the summit, we headed down via the Star Lake Trail to the Hut for snacks.  Some hikers then tagged Madison & the others continued down Valley Way to the Trailhead.

About this event

Join us for an up and back hike to the summit of Mt. Adams.   We will ascend via the Airline Trail (4432 ft elevation gain) to the summit of Mt. Adams.  We will have lunch on the summit & then stop at the Madison Hut before hiking down via the Valley Way. Total distance is about 8 miles & the hike will take about 8-9 hours (moderate pace) including lunch and breaks to enjoy the views on the Airline Trail.

Hikers are welcome to stay at BobCats house in Sugar Hill NH (45 minutes from trailhead) Saturday night if they wish. Reach out to him for directions and details.

What to bring: footwear with good traction. The trail will likely be wet and slippery. Also lunch, bug spray, sunscreen and a light windbreaker just in case. Most importantly, a big smile and positive attitute.

What not to bring: frowns, negativity, national/world problems/politics.
