The trip report

Written by Carl

Many thanks to everyone who joined me in South Boston yesterday. We took about two hours to explore the life and times of JFK. Being on the eve of MLK Day and a new inauguration, reflecting on how the political winds have shifted over time was especially interesting. The award-winning building by IM Pei was also a marvel to behold up close. Afterward, we enjoyed lunch at the museum cafe and a beautiful walk around Castle Island. We went our separate ways around 3pm, well before the first snowflake started to fall!

About this event

Join GayOutdoors for a day of history and natural beauty.   We will be starting the day at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum.   The museum pays homage to the 35th president and offers a glimpse into his life and legacy.  The cost is $18 for adult admission, but you get a 50% discount if you present a physical or digital Massachusetts library card!

We will have lunch at the museum café, then drive to Castle Island for a 2.2-mile walk around Fort Independence and the causeway around Pleasure Bay.   This easy walk offers excellent views of Boston Harbor and Dorchester Bay.   Parking at the museum and Castle Island is free.

I hope you can join us!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! The snow will start to move in from 3-5pm, but we should be wrapping up well before then. We can adjust as needed given weather conditions. If you need to reach me, my number is 781-405-7470. Don't forget your library card for half off!
