Loop Hike to Jennings Peak
Jennings Peak Loop Hike
The trip report
Written by JR · last updated by tdefauw on Jul 25, 2023
Thank you to Jonny for joining Joe and I on the loop hike to Jennings Peak. After a lot of rainy weather, it was wonderful to have a beautiful sunny day in the low to mid 80s and not that humid. There is a stream crossing at the beginning of the Sandwich Mountain Trail which can be a little difficult when the water is high. Joe and Jonny crossed by rock hopping, whereas I took my boots off and put sandals on and trudged right through the stream. We enjoyed talking to several people on the way up, and we had lunch at the top of Jennings Peak. Afterwards, Jonny decided to extend the hike by also doing Sandwich Mountain, whereas Joe and I went down. Overall a great day, great hike, and great conversation.

About this event
Join us for one of our favorite hikes to Jennings Peak in Waterville Valley. We will take the Sandwich Mountain Trail 1.6 miles to Noon Peak and then continue 1.4 miles to Jennings Peak for lunch and great views. There is 1550 feet of elevation gain in the first 1.6 miles, so this section is steep (average grade 19%). Afterwards we will take the gentle Drakes Brook trail down, which goes along Drakes Brook for most of the way. The hike is a 7.5 mile loop with about 2000 feet of elevation gain.
