About this event
At 3,491 feet above sea level, the summit of Mt. Greylock rises well into the boreal climate zone, offering a glimpse of an ecosystem typically found several hundred miles to the north of the Berkshires. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the region. Please note, the trails near the top are moderately strenuous. You can also climb the Veterans War Memorial tower or grab a bite to eat at Bascom Lodge. We will congregate at the Mt. Greylock visitors center in Lanesboro and then have several people carpool up the summit as parking is limited up top on busy days.
WHAT TO BRING: P?lease bring rain-gear, appropriate footwear (that can get muddy), snacks, water, and also consider bringing hiking poles if you may need them or to lend to someone who may need them. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Please check the weather the morning before the hike so you can make sure you have the right clothing & equipment if conditions change.
