The trip report

Written by tdefauw

Thanks to Fred for joining Joe and I on this winter hike of Wachipauka Pond.   In Plymouth, where Joe and I live, there had been less than an inch of snow overnight on Friday, so we were expecting the same on the Wachipauka Pond hike, but we were surprised to find probably 5 inches of snow there.    We were glad that we had microspikes, even though the snow started to clump up on them.    It was a beautiful sunny day, which while cold at a high of 31, there was no wind.    We quickly warmed up going uphill to the wooded summit of Mount Mist, and were pleasantly surprised that the Mount Mist sign had been put up again.    Then we headed downhill to a viewpoint, and then down to Wachipauka Pond where we had our lunch, along with some hot chocolate that we had packed.   All together, a beautiful day, great conversation, and great company!    And glad that we went ahead and posted this GO hike, even if it was last minute -- nothing ventured, nothing gained!
