The trip report

Written by Gandalf

Exciting to talk with many who were eager for their first outdoor GO adventure. Great way for new guys to introduce themselves.

The day started off with many GO members exploring Boston with Mo. I heard that everyone had a fantastic time and that Mo was a terrific trip leader. Thanks so much Mo for putting this together for 14 members!

Everyone began to arrive around 5PM at Cathedral Station. Jon and I were pleasantly surprised that the bar reserved the game room for us to congregate. Not only that, they had created and distributed on the tables these fabulous welcome posters with our logo! We immediately felt welcome and it was much appreciated.

One of the best things about a GO Social Event is the chance to meet all the GOers who are brand new to us! On January 26th, we hosted over thirty five GayOutdoors' enthusiasts from throughout New England. We found our newer members eager to get outdoors, where GOers are in our real element...

Great to meet and greet GOers and Newbies.  Around 7pm, many members broke into small groups and enjoyed dinner in the dining room. We found the food to be delicious and very reasonably priced considering we were in a major metropolitan city! We found the music loud which made having a conversation difficult so next time we will ask management to turn it down.

Hope to see more of you in our upcoming winter adventures!

Mike and Jon

About this event

Baby its cold outside! Let’s get together and warm up! There may be a blizzard outside but we can get together and keep each other warm.

Everyone is welcome - member or not!

Date: Saturday, January 26, 2019

Time: 5 to 7 p.m.

Where: Cathedral Station Bar & Pub, 1222 Washington Street, Boston, MA. Cathedral station also has its own parking lot for its customers.

We’ve always have a fantastic turnout in Boston with members from all over the region! Boston has many hotels to choose from if you are looking for overnight accommodations.

We’ve been overdue to host a Boston Social Event and this time, we’re moving it to Cathedral Station Bar & Pub.  We've shared some wonderful times hiking, swimming, camping, socializing, kayaking, backpacking, winter hiking...and so much more!  We can’t wait for you to get down with our fun filled **Blizzard Blast** and relive those fond memories.  With the holidays behind us, blizzard conditions outside and many members hibernating for the winter, this is an ideal time to get together. It's a come as you are, relaxed evening.

Are you a hard core outdoor enthusiast?  Or, are you simply thinking of starting? Our **Blizzard Blast** is an event to find out how outgoing, laid back, down to earth and friendly we are!  If you have questions about membership or events, here's your opportunity to meet members and get your questions answered! Chat us up about your favorite outdoor destination. Get advice on gear or find buddies to join you on your next adventure. Plan to meet with members you will be going on trips with in 2019.

Jon and I will be wearing GO hats at the bar so you know who to look for. Introduce yourself so we can give a name tag so that everyone knows you are part of our group. Cathedral station has a good selection of draft beers and if you get are looking for an appetizer, they are known for their chicken wings!

Cathedral Station also has a pub serving salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees so it’s a good option for dinner. We can break up into groups at 7PM and enjoy dinner together!

Please Post Pre-Event Activities

Before the event, we welcome members to post outdoor excursions nearby! Examples include a walk in the Arnold Arboretum, Emerald Necklace or along the Freedom Trail in Boston.

I'll probably be scheduled to work but will ask for coverage. I can enjoy my club soda, some food and good conversation!
