The trip report
At the top, we had some clear views of the surrounding peaks. I commented on how I hiked Mt. Potash as part of the Get Fit series when I first joined GO. I recalled how several veteran hikers were able to name many of the surrounding peaks. Although I could not name all of them, it was nice to realize that I could recognize quite a few of them.
The group stopped in Lincoln and shared drinks and a lite meal at Gordis. I hope to see everyone again for the final two hikes in the GetFit series.

About this event
Trip Description:
This is the third in a series of five hikes geared for people who want to get started with hiking or for veteran hikers looking to get back into the game.
Located just south of the Kancamagus Highway in north-central New Hampshire, the summit of Potash Mountain, elevation 2,669 feet, provides outstanding 360-degree vistas of the southern White Mountains. Open ledges on its southeast face offer spectacular views of Hedgehog and Passaconaway mountains and beyond.
Potash is a small, ledgy peak with steep, spruce-wooded sides and a flat top, poking up on the north side of the Sandwich Range. It is an excellent half-day hike, since its mostly open summit offers wide views in several directions. The views of the northern ridges and valleys of the Sandwich Range are especially notable. Total mileage for this out & back moderate hike is 4.4 miles with 1,450 elevation gain. We will take approx. 5 hours to complete, that allowing for a leisurely lunch and breaks.
Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks & a lunch. After the hike, we can take a head over to either Lincoln or Conway for food & refreshments based on the group's preference.
