Ricketts Glen Waterfall Hike
A great hiking day at Rickett's Glen State Park, PA.
The trip report
I've wanted to visit Rickett's Glen park for several years but it always seemed to be so far away. Saturday, seven members decided to make that long drive and spend a beautiful day hiking the falls trail. The trail is carved out of rocks that get slppery from the spray and the trail is littered with all sized exposed tree roots. Sometimes the climb is steep and arduous, but everyday hundreds of people make the climb to experience twenty-two waterfalls all on one unforgettable journey. This a a truly marvelous park. Beyond the trails, are well maintained camp sites, clean bathroom facilities and a beautiful lake and swimming area. I hope you enjoy the pictures I've included. I believe they will motivate you to join our trip to the park next year when we camp over. We'd love to have you along.

About this event
We'll meet at noon at the park by the information office. Then we'll hike the waterfall trail. Wear appropriate footware as the water spray can make surfaces slippery. If you think this is too strenuous for you, the park has an easier trail that goes past less falls. It's a nice option if you think the main trail is too hard for you. The swimming area should still be open so we can swim afterwards if it's warm enough. Dinner at a local restuarant will also be an option.
Consider tent camping Friday night at the park if you're coming from a long distance.Go to www.dcnr.state.pa.us for reservations. The park is popular and books up quickly.
