Afternoon Paddle on the lower Housatonic

We'll catch the river at high tide. Explore a little bit of the old factories along the shores of Derby / Shelton and then paddle south. Approximately half way to the Sikorsky Bridge is a nice spot to get out, stretch, and take a break. If time permits and depending on the group, we'll either continue south for a little while or turn back. Anticipate 4 hours +/- on the water. Our return trip will be going against the tide and current. We'll take this slow . . . especially if there are novice kayakers / canoers in the group.

As mentioned above, this part of the river is tidal water. Life jackets are required. There are no boat rentals in the area.

Rain / hurricanes / extremely strong water flows or other unsafe conditions will cancel this event.

I will anticipate on emailing the group a day or two before the event with my phone #. I will be driving a 2007 Grey Toyota Matrix (frog decals on back side windows).
