About this event

This is one of my favorite hikes, following water most of the way and passing the awesome Lonesome Lake and Kinsman Pond. This hike is rated strenuous and travels over about 11.6 miles, crossing 2 seperate 4000+ footers. North Kinsman is 4293 Ft. Elevation, and South Kinsman is 4358 Ft. Elevation.

This is a fall hike, please bring warm clothing as full winter conditions can be possible, especially above timberline. Microspikes may be needed, but very unlikely. I will advise based upon weather conditions as the time gets closer.

The route; We will go up the Basin Cascade Trail/Cascade Brook trail, bringing us to Lonesome Lake. We will then take the scrambly but fun Finshin Jimmy Trail for 2.5 miles. This will put us on a brief section of the kinsman Trail, where we will catch the Kinsman Ridge Trail over the 2 peaks. We will then backtrack along the ridge, passing one of my favorites, Kinsman Pond, and down the Kinsman Pond trail to the basin (backtracking a short section of Cascade Brook/Basin Cascade Trails again).

We can go out for dinner in the area for anyone who may be interested. I have hiked this area a few times, I just need to get South Kinsman as I get close to the end of my 4000+ footer list!
