About this event
Wakodahatchee is a Seminole word which means "Created Water." An apt name for what once was farm land. The former owner donated the land to Palm Beach County to be restored to its original wetland status, and the county has done a wonderful job of restoring it by using recycled water from the community. The walk will be on raised, wheelchair accessible walkways, which allow an intimate, but safe, view of the plants and animals in their natural habitat. It is an easy 1 to 3 mile walk, depending on detours. Numerous species of bird, both local and migratory, now call the Wakodahatchee home, and on a warm sunny day, you are likely to see alligators sunning themselves on higher ground.
