The trip report
Its was a nice day to hike. There was a surprising 8-12 inches of snow everywhere, but we hiked around the southern half of the park for an hour and a half. Probably doing about 5 miles with looking around. A pretty easy day but with the snow and temps, we figured we might want to end a bit early for the treacherous ride back to the city. Hope to encourage more to come next time..

About this event
I would love to have a group of decent hikers get together for a good 5 mile hike through Highland Forest - Onondaga County Park. Its a fantastic hiking venue and is free of the current deer hunters craze. There are many trails and many roads, most are very easy, but many are muddy and slippery. So the Moderate rating is mostly due to the slipperiness of the mud and terrain. I will meet anyone who wants to get out and do a little hiking (Or trail running) at the lodge parking lot. I'm easy to find as I have the dog in my pictuire with me and we leave from the area where they park all the park vehicles on the far side of the parking lot. My car is a blue taurus Station Wagon and as I said, look for me with my dog. To get to the park take Interstate 81 to tully and go east on Rt 80 until you hit the entrance to Highland Forest County Park. The Sign is Huge. Follow the road up and turn left at the gate and park in the lot. I actually hike every Sunday and would be glad to have company. The dog rarely gives much feed back on the conversation.
