The trip report

4 brave bikers endured the over 95 decree heat to travel around 30 miles.  The ride was along the Shenandoah River and surrounding roads. Traveling up and down the mountain.  We had lunch at a small deli in the middle of nowhere.  On the ride back we swam in the river and boy did it feel great.  The total ride lasted about 5 hours.  We returned to the park and Lee brought some ice cold watermelon.  It was a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again.

About this event

Discover the beauty of Shenandoah River!  We will start on a mountain bike path that runs right along the Shenandoah River for about 2 miles.  At this point we will hit the back roads through out the park for about 10 - 20 miles up and down various hills and return back to the mountain bike path which will take us back to our cars.  We will not get back in our cars just yet.  There is a trail along with a board walk that is call Cottontail Run that is about 1/4 mile long on the other side of the parking lot where you will see more rabbits then you have ever seen in your life.  I have done this trip several times and it gets better every time.  It costs $4.00 to enter the park.  That is the only fee.  See http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/and.shtml for more info on the park.  YOU MUST WEAR A HELMET (NO EXCEPTIONS)  Let's go.  I am sure you will have a great time and get a real good workout.
