About this event
Leader: I'm teaming up with Brian Rogers to lead 4 bike rides in the MA North Shore and the NH Seacoast region this month. I've done mine before as a member of a local cycling club and, if there is enough interest, I would like to do variations of those routes in the spring and the summer on a recurrent weekly basis in preparation for the Harbor to the Bay Boston-Provincetown benefit ride.
What to expect: 50 miles of flat roads and rolling hills passing through the towns of Newburyport, Rowley, Newbury, Byfield, Topsfield, and Ipswich. The NSC deserves the credit for designing the ride and arrowing the road; I did it in late August last year and found the scenery to be of outstanding beauty. Plum Island can be considered as an optional detour to add on the way back to Newburyport, weather and legs permitting (estimate another 10 miles).
What to bring:
- road bike highly recommended so that we can average ~12 miles/hour.
- helmet and preferably two water bottles.
- $2 entrance fee to Parker Island National Wildlife Refuge (Plum Island).
- power bar/snacks.
Rain cancels the ride.
