About this event
Voyage to Virgin Islands National Park on
St. John, USVI
A few years ago I went on this great WNG trip to St. John US Virgin Island.
I have wanted to go back to visit ever since, so I figured, why not lead it myself.
Where: St. John, United States Virgin Island
When: Saturday, June 19 through Saturday, June 26, 2010
Deposit: $576 which covers 1/8 of the villa cost plus the deposit
for one vehicle.
Additional Costs: Air fair to and from St. Thomas USVI;
Delta, Air Tran, US Airways, American fly to Saint Thomas (STT)
Transfer from airport on St. Thomas to St. John and return;
Food & Beverage; Vehicle rental and fuel share;
Total expected cost estimatedto be $1,600 plus personal expenses.
Additional Information:
St. John USVI is a beautiful Caribbean island 2/3 of which is dedicated as the Virgin Islands National Park, so there is a great opportunity for hiking to see pre historic rock carvings and an even better opportunity for snorkeling at the Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, lazing around on one of the many beaches on the island, or visiting some of the other local islands to see the Baths (as in bathyspheres – a unique geologic formation) – which may require your passport. I found St. John to be relaxing and casual, rather than a tourist haven. For more information you can visit www.stjohnusvi.com . St. John is less developed than its neighbor St. Thomas, where we will be flying in, then transferring to a ferry that will take us to St. John. We will be renting the villa the group rented last time which was BEAUTIFUL. The villa sits above Hawks Nest Bay and has a big deck overlooking the bay and a hot tub large enough to accommodate 10 - be advised the deck will be a clothing optional area. The villa sleeps 8 people in four bedrooms, so we will be doubling up, but each room has a king bed with a private bath and outdoor shower. We will be preparing meals communally or eating out at one of the local restaurants. Deposit for the trip will be $ 576 which covers cost for the villa and the deposit on the rental truck – a pickup modified with seating in the back covered by a canopy. Travelers will need to purchase their own air fare to and from St. Thomas, taxi, and ferry. Since we will be preparing meals communally, we will keep track of group expenses and settle up with each other at the end of the trip. Please keep in mind that we will be in the Caribbean in the summer so do not forget your sun screen. I have estimated the total cost of the trip at $1,600 plus your spending money.
