Monte Largo New Mexico

Monte Largo is in the Ortiz mountain range about 25 miles south of Sante Fe.  It is the location of the first gold discovery in US by the Spanish.  It still produces gold, copper and gem stones.  There are lots of trails around old mines, but much of the area is on private property but some is public, just check your map.  Rattlesnakes are around this time of year so be careful.    Fall wild flowers are out in abundance.
