About this idea

Hi,

I have plans to be in the Fingers Lakes (Rochester, Niagra Falls) area of Northwest New York State Sunday Afternoon/evening to Tuesday morning April 7 thru April 9 2024.  The main purpose of my trip is to observe the total solar eclipse that will be in that area Monday afternoon (around 3:20PM) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QMoCdn727Q

During, before (Sunday afternoon, Monday morning, Monday afternoon, or Tue morning) I wonder if there could be some hiking/GO event?  This post is an idea, but might turn into more.

Eddie,
A GO hike/eclipse event in the Rochester area appeals to me. Two beautiful state parks with hiking potential are Letchworth and Stony Brook. I would definitely try to be a part of this!

I'm glad to see the comments. for the eclipse I think it's a bad idea for me to organize something. I would drive with my car and would follow the eclipse to where hopefully there's low or no clouds - paying attention to weather/cloud predictions the day before and the day of. this would be my first meetup with GO so to avoid stress of coordinating with both clouds and people, I'll let someone else organize this if they want to. I like the idea myself!

I think it’s an awesome idea Eddie. Count me in. Thank you. BTW I live in NYC and am happy to help with the transportaton should any from my area need a ride

Sounds fun, to far if a drive for me personally to attend, but definitely love the idea.

I might be able to do something the 7th or 9th. The day of the eclipse would be great if there was a large group of people.
