Wooded hike with streams and beaver dams

Cedarville State Forest Orange Loop

Wooded hike with streams and beaver dams

Details

This is 6 to 8 mile easy to moderate hike with mild elevation changes, almost entirely under the tree canopy. Very lightly trafficked trails, streams and ponds, very quiet and peaceful. I rarely encounter more than two or three other hikers on a weekday. Horses and cyclists are allowed but also rare. Good hiking shoes or boots recommended, as well as insect repellent. There is a $3 cash-only usage fee payable at a drop box in the main parking lot.

Directions

10201 Bee Oak Road, Brandywine, MD MD Rte. 301 to Cedarville Road. Right onto Bee Oak Road, park at main lot adjacent to ranger station.
