This will be a one way south to north hike on the Appalachian Trail. This 12.3 mile hike will require an auto shuttle. The hike will leave the parking lot on VA 612. This wil be a relatively flat hike with two mild ascents and two mild descents. 

The hike will quickly cross Kimberly Creek and begin an ascent on Brushy Mountain. About one mile into the hike we will reach the crest of Brushy Mountain, and one half mile later we will come to Helveys Mill Shelter. At 3.5 miles into the hike we will come to an old woods road and will follow it for 2.3 miles, after which we will follow the ridge line. 8 miles into the hike into the hike we will cross VA 611 and then descend into a gap. From the gap (2800 feet) we'll ascend to summit of Brushy Mountain (3100 feet). From here we'll begin a descent and come to the spur trail for the Jenny Knob Shelter about 11 miles. From here we will descend to the end of the hike at VA 608 in Lickskillet Hollow.
